My year of Joy

2021. We all thought that with a turn of the calendar page, things would get better. Well, I am not taking any chances, so I've decided to be purposeful in noticing things in my little world that bring joy. I was inspired by a podcast that i listened to today -so I've missed the first 5 days of January.

Nevertheless, today is a perfect day to start because of what is happening at the Capitol building. I have to push that insanity over to the side of my brain to make room for positivity.  It's that slow, quiet scream that I'm trying to tamp down. Otherwise, I may lose it. Are you with me?

January 6th

Covid-19 wages on - which means both Bill and I continue to work from our home offices. One of the benefits of working from home is that we get to eat lunch together and Bill always offers to make it (although he has been known to interrupt me when I'm having a video chat with my boss to ask whether we are eating together. Luckily, I have a very understanding boss)

Today: turkey sandwiches on some particularly delicious "Rustique" bread from the Bread Hive - a worker owned bakery (shout out to this incredible bakery) here in Buffalo, NY

Bill's back was to me as he made the sandwiches and he didn't hear me come in. Bill is great at many things but he will admit to being a klutz...he dropped a slice of turkey on the floor. He quickly swooped down, shook it, blew on it and then placed it on his sandwich - although he was in the middle of making my sandwich.

That's love. And, a wonderful first entry for My Year of Joy.
